A downloadable game

Overview

WW1 - No man's Land is a game centered around trench warfare during WW1. There are 2 sides, the allies (composed of British and French troops) and the German forces. It is played on a top down grid, which will be decorated with WW1 theme based art. Players take turns either moving their troops up or drawing power up cards. Power up cards are separated into lethal and non lethal categories. These cards range from the ability to call in artillery strikes, throw grenades, call in smoke bombs, and much more. How far troops can move or shoot is also determined by dice. The end goal is to capture all 3 trenches, to obtain full control of the battlefield.

How the game started

A while back I designed a physical board game for my level design class. The board game was a turn based strategy game based on WW1 trench warfare. The board game has just been sitting around, so I thought why not try and take that physical version and adapt it into a computer game, so now here I am trying to do just that!

Some art from the board game itself

I am currently doing an entire re-skin of the art I did for the physical board game, since I want a pixel art look and some more things are needed for a full on computer game; however, below is the 2D vector art I created in Adobe Illustrator for the physical version of this board game!

Well, this is all for now! I am going to strive to document my entire dev process as well. Due to this, I will be uploading a devlog at least every month, and try to have a video showing what new features were added.

Also, feel free to check out my devlog section if you are interested in keeping up to date with the project!

Hey I had an idea if you want to add a new class and be more creative you should add the japeneese (The fight aginst german). Just an idea tell me wat you think

Ya definitely think having other factions will be a must have for a game like this!

Will you add more countries?

Definitely want to, and probably will, though for starters i'm gonna try and wrap up the British and German troops and use those to get the game to a base version.

this looks cool but a little advice the standard brodie hat for the british was implemented in 1916 amd the german pointy hats were phased out by then but other than that looks sick

Appreciate the feedback, also thanks for the pointers! Will be sure to keep that in mind as I finalize the animations.

Hello man, I've been watching your project since devlog 4, and it scared me because I thought you had abandoned the project, your progress looks great and I think it also has wood for a videogame boardgame.I'm happy to see how this progresses. Esta chilero tu cosa, ponte pilas.

Thanks! Means a lot!
